Worried

Hey I was received tests result on friday dec 28, 2012 and tested positive for hsv-1 but the results said that it was not std that it would cause mouth blisters the results didn't have the range of the test.  I had protected sex on dec 15, 2012 but the condom broke and I felt it was important to get tested for hiv I never thought that my tests results would come back with positive result for hsv-1. I noticed on the results that the tests given was the IgG may question is have there been any known cases that this test is wrong? Was it too early to get tested? Should I get retested if so would the western blot test should be used or can you recommend any tests.

you tested far too early for most std's. gonorrhea, chlamydia and trich were the only test results that were accurate from the encounter in question. you will need to repeat your hsv2 igg testing 3 months post encounter, syphilis after 6 weeks and depending on your hiv test you had done, your hiv testing too at the 3 month mark.

most adults will test + for hsv1. If you can't recall any obvious symptoms either orally or genitally, odds are it's an oral infection.   http://www.ashastd.org/std-sti-works/Herpes/oral-herpes.html  has more info for more reading.

Hey Grace,
I went back to the doctor today because she wanted to do a vaginal swap while in the office I broke down crying. The doctor ask me why I was crying and I told her because of my results so she pulls up my files and said it's not the std so why are you crying you just may break out in blisters. I felt that she was very cold hearted she didn't even tell me if I had to take any type of meds. My question is being that I have hsv-1 and the doctor claims it's not the std kind can my future partner get infected through sex?
