Possible herpes transmission?

I work in healthcare and yesterday a 2 year old patient drooled on my hand where I have an open cut before I had put gloves on. I was able to wash the cut about one minute later. The child had no signs of oral herpes but I am concerned about getting herpes whitlow. What are the chances?  Thank you.

How sure are you that I am not at risk for whitlow?  My wife and I are expecting a baby this fall and I am so nervous about transmitting to my wife and child.

Also herpes does not just appear all over the body. Its either in the sacrum ganglia or the oral ganglia and surfaces through the nerves in the ganglia areas only.

Its in the lesion not the saliva but it can survive outside if the enviornmental conditions are met.
Many that contract whitlow are in the dential profession where their fingers are in constant contact with lesions.

Thank you for your reply.  I always though the herpes virus was in saliva therefore you could transmit the virus into open cuts on areas other than the mouth and genitals without direct skin to skin contact of the open sore.  Is that not correct?  I'm just really really concerned about getting herpes whitlow.

Hi, Whitlow is  not common and you really need skin to skin contact. I would not be concerned at all.
