I think it is good, but it isn't definitive.
Jazzyjeff, we're done here. My best to you
Terri
I believe the girl was clean. do you think a negative hiv test after 5 weeks from exposure is good?
A stabbing feeling in your throat off and on doesn't sound anything like a herpes symptom.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Do you think I should retest? Or is 5 weeks after exposure good?
I will have stabbing pain in my mouth and throat on and off. It comes and goes. It does not hurt to swallow and this is going on 7 weeks. Went to a ear nose and throat doctor today and he put the scope down my throat and checked my mouth and said everything looks fine and it should pass. But when, it seems to be going away but not sure when totally. What is this?
Tell me more about your throat symptoms? If you have a sore throat, that could be cause by a virus or a bacteria. Can you restate your throat symptoms?
Terri
What does my throat symptoms sound like, has now been six weeks. I am pretty sure girl was clean and all tests except hsv-1 came out negative at 5 weeks including hiv 1&2.
orry to be so late in answering. I am in Mexico, and have very sketchy internet access, despite promises to the contrary prior to departure.
We can't know if you have HSV 1 orally, genitally, or both. Unless you get a specific lesion that can be swab tested, we can't know the location of your infection. Your throat symptoms don't sound like HSV 1 infection.
i would say HSV 1 is not a big deal, yes.
Terri
You did not answer on last post?
Hsv-1 is not a big deal correct? And how do I know if I have oral or both hsv-1.Also I have pain in my throat that comes and goes but is like a stabbing pain and does not hurt to swallow that comes and goes. Is this normal for hsv-1? Or something else? Everthing else came back negative including hiv at 4.5 weeks. I did not think you could get both simultaneously by kissing and then when she gave oral?
We can't know right now if you have this orally, genitally or both. The bumps on your upper lip are probably normal and not new, you may just be observing far more carefully. Next time you are very close to someone else, look their upper lip to see if they have them too.
Terri
And also what are those tiny bumps on my upper lip that have been there for about 4 weeks? Is that from the oral hsv-1 and when will they go away? They are not blisters though just little tiny bumps.I never got blisters on my penis just some tinling and burning which is gone so I believe my hsv-1 is just oral.
So i probably have hsv-1 orally and not hsv-1 genital? Can you get both at the same time as she kissed me then gave me oral. Or once she infected me by kissing me chances of oral are low? Well at least Thank god I don't have genital hsv-2, as I know close to 80 or 90 percent of people in th U.S. have oralhsv-1 which is no big deal.
Dr. Grishna and I do not agree, that's why the board sent your post to me, because they were concerned about the accuracy of his response to you on the other board.
There is no such thing as "exposed" when your antibody test is accurately positive. You are either infected or you aren't.
Terri
Dr. Grishna said that even though exposed to hsv-1 and you do not clinically have hsv-1 your test for hsv-1 would still be positive as the body still builds up antibodies even if just exposed and do not have clinically. Is that what you think my case is as Dr. Grishna said is the scenario of alot of people of what I experienced especially I had no blisters.
Jazzy
So you think i was just exposed and I dont have hsv-1 clinically? Or just oral hsv-1 as i did have a sore inside my mouth but just bumps on penis head not blisters and stinging which is just about gone. And I made a mistake my hsv-2 was less than 0.91 sothat is negative. Dr. Girshna believes i was just exposed to hsv-1 but do not have clinically and got a reaction to it.
Jazzy
When your antibody test for HSV 1 is strongly positive, as yours is, that means your are both infected and infectious to others. If you have ever in your life had a cold sore on your nose, on your lip or on your chin, that means your HSV 1 infection is oral.
The timing of your last sexual encounter is important to know if you need to retest for HSV 2. The proper time for antibody testing is about 4 months after any risky sexual encounter. The bumps on your penis may well be normal skin variations if the come and go and are not blisters.
If the two doctors that you saw don't feel that your symptoms are herpetic, then I would rely on their judgment.
The inside of most penises is red. If you've never looked closely before, it could just be normal for you.
