herpes on a foot?

i have been dignosed with both herpes. my husband of 15 years hasnt been tested, but more than likely has it. he recently had a couple of blisters on his penis. he also has a red streak on the inside of his foot, its kinda swollen at the base where it begins. its pretty painful, doesnt itch, or burn, just sore. i was wondering does this have anything to do with herpes? he seems to think so. what might it look like if he did have it on his foot? thanks alot. i wish there was a cure for this. it makes me feel so bad, and also valtrex is so expensive!!! thanks for your help!

Acyclovir is way cheaper than valtrex is. You might not be able to get generic valtrex at this point - it's in short supply currently.  Ask your provider to change your prescription to acyclovir instead. Even without insurance you can get a course of it for episodic therapy for $4 at walmart and suppressive therapy for under $20 ( with a prescription from your provider of course ).

You can have herpes lesions on the foot. That said, what you described on your hubby doesn't sound like it is one. If he hasn't been seen for it, he should be promptly and have it checked out. It sounds more like  a bacterial infection than a herpes related issue.  He can also get tested for herpes to know his own status too with a type specific herpes igg blood test.

what testing have you had done so far?

His foot wouldn't be herpes related. He should see his provider for a diagnosis.

Valtrex is now available as a generic - look into it with your pharmacy/doctor.
