herpes/shaft peeling

Hello,

It's been about a month now that my boyfriend has had an ongoing outbreak (his first) and it goes without saying that he's freaking out. Neither one of us thought it would take this long for the sores to go away. The first one he got was on the bottom of the penis head. He then went in get a culture test which means the doctor had to swab the sore. The next day there was a second sore next to the original sore and we assume it's due to the swabing. That sore went awayin about a week. The original sore is still there and now his penis is peeling. Is peeling another herpes symptom? I've read through other posts and I can't really find any about peeling being part of herpes. My boyfriend is at his wits end. He's been hanging in there and just taking it as it comes but sometimes it's hard for us both. The peeling is taking a toll on him and we just need some feedback. Thanks for reading and thanks for any advice any of you might have.

he needs to stop the TTO at this point. you can have allergic reactions to it and since his skin is in bad shape, best to not use it at this point.

was his swab hsv2+?

has he been back to see if perhaps he has a fungal infection going on too?

PS. He was on acyclovir for the first week.he's now on valtrex. He's been taking vitamins and we are hiking regularly. He treats the sore nightly, applying tree tea oil on it. We are out of ideas. Thanks, again
