herpes won't go away...help!

I had my primary outbreak on Dec 16th 2008 and it is now Feb 1st and I still have a small blister inside of my vagina.  Is this normal for my first out break to take this long to clear up?  I do not have any blisters on the outside of the vagina; everything is inside? I am taking valtrex once a day since Dec.  Will my next outbreak last this long? There is no pain associated with this.  Please help?

I got herpies from my husband. He got it from his x wife.  He decided to tell me about it after we started dating. I was upset at first. I forgave him, we are living through this. I also have outbreaks but when the blisters are gone I still have the burning and itching pain that last for months. My husband hardly ever has outbreaks or problems. He has a serious on back in 2006. He prayed about it and he's doing fine.  I'm praying God will heal me this is so painful. I also notice when I eat foods that are acidic it makes the pain worse.  I'm going just keep continuing to pray cut back on acidic foods and taking meds.

I know you've posted onto an old post, and probably won't get any responses from those posters, but just wanted to say I feel your pain.  Haven't had a diagnosis yet but I understand your frustration with all those symptoms.  It's a constant living nightmare. Take care.

i've had genital herpes for i'd say 7 years now. my first outbreak was horrible, the blisters go away fast but the pain for the first outbreak lasted a whole year! i kept going back and back to the dr's and nothing worked. i recently got another outbreak and i only had one blister, the pain started going away, then i got my period, then the pain started coming back. the pain is right there in the central part of my vaginal hole and all the way up inside. it burns and itches and it's just constant pain. so far it's been about 4 weeks. my dr did a culture test, no yeast infection, no bacterial infection. it's herpes! and she said it can't be because herpes is external and she didn't see anything in the inside. i hate having this disease. i got it from oral sex which i didn't even know u could get it that way. i'm scared that as i get older i'll get it more cuz as u age ur immune system gets weaker especially if i develop problems. i'm just saying that yeah doctors don't think pain can last this long with an outbreak but it can, there is nothing else to explain this pain. even though she said she didn't see any redness or anything, i feel like it should be red by the amount of pain i've been having. i'm trying to stay positive and not stress but it's killing me because i think it's getting better but then it starts burning really bad again. i just started seeing someone and told him about it and he's willing to stick around but i mean 4 weeks + God knows how long more??? i don't even know how to explain this. this is ruining my life that's for sure. i hate this residual pain that noooooooooooooobodyyyyyyyyyy knows how to help with. i'm taking lysine and 500mg valtrex once a day. i. hate. this. so. much. i. don't. deserve. this. it's just torture in every way possible

I'm having the same problem--constant discomfort, tingling & burning sensation, severe itching, fevers, swollen lymph nodes, cracked skin and dark red blister-looking patches that never break open ... Grace was kind enough to comment on my post and told me to check for other things it could be because she didn't think it sounded like herpes - I had more testing done and everything came back normal but bloodwork tested positive for herpes.  This has all been going on for 2 1/2 months.  I have a friend who told me her first outbreak lasted about 6 months.  Doctors tell you it can't happen but I read more and more testimonials from people living with this who say it happened to them.  That's not to say that they had blisters for months, but some of us are apparently experiencing irritation and redness and swelling that waxes and wanes from day-to-day for a long period of time.

Well even if the original culture of this came back as hsv2+, herpes wouldn't be there this long without healing. You could have more than just hsv2 going on so it needs further evaluation.

First, thanks for responding. I had a culture taken on the 23rd of Dec and it was negative, however on the 5th of Jan i did take a blood test herpeselect type specific and it came out positive at 3.31.  I am making an appointment to go back to the doctor soon.  I am getting really worried because it won't go away. What are your thoughts? Thanks

I doubt this is herpes lasting this long. You  need to return to your provider and find out what is still going on.

How did they originally diagnose you as having genital herpes?

My 1st outbreak was sooo painful and it lasted for a lil over a week. I took sum medication to clear it up faster but I don't take it everyday.
