HSV results

I recently got a herpes test.  The results were hsv 1 positive greater than 5 and hsv 2 3.39.  I have read in different websites that being my hsv 1 is so high it can cause my hsv 2 to be a false positive.  Is this correct?  Should I get retested.  The test that was used was herpeselect igg.  Thank you in advance.

correct - if you haven't had obvious lesions genitally that a provider though was herpes or a lesion culture of symptoms, confirming your results with additional testing is the best course of action.

Thanks Grace.  I am really distraught.  I usually get tested for all std's thinking herpes was included.  Not many people know that herpes is not included.  I have never had any signs of anything weird or abnormal... ever.  So I was thinking that maybe I have a little hope :-)  The Gyno that did the testing was not very helpful at all... everything I know I have research on the internet.  I have an appointment to go see another gyno.on Tuesday, one I had seem before but never went back to due to location inconvenience.  Thanks again for your response!

no need for another gyn - just a herpes WB blood test if you can get it ordered. If your provider uses quest labs, it's test # 34534
