the WB has one of the lowest rates of false negatives - it misses 1 out of 10.
lesion cultures are better to confirm hsv1 if testing negative but getting cold sores/oral lesions suspicious for herpes.
Oh and I also wanted to comment on how it seems like hsv 1 and hsv 2 are opposites when it comes to testing! Like low pos hsv 2 is more possibly false while low pos hsv 1 is more possibly a positive!
Humm ok, I was just curious, let's say you had a neg for igg hsv 1 but had a suspicious cold sore would it be wise to get a wester blot? Is the western blot more accurate for hsv 1?
Again just curious since my hsv1>5 can't be false.
we don't know why exactly.
doesn't seem to be as many false positive issues for hsv1 igg testing though.
