Sorry missing a word or two :(
Once you are positive you in almost all circumstances remain positive regardless of taking antivirals. Some people experience negatives for various reasons after recording a positive but I don't believe antivirals features prominently as a reason.
i didnt catch ur last answer, do u meant it is never heard of positive result turned negative after acyclovir for 5 days? Anyway thank you for all the replies, really appreciate ur informative responds!
No it can it realistically change a previously positive value to a negative. Opinion is divided as to whether antivirals seroconversion, if it does then it isn't by very long.
to all, sorry to keep asking but can acyclovir change ur result from positive igg to negative?
That's such a low value. There is no point getting another IgG. WB or bust.
Regardless of whether you have HSV1 or not, it is unlikely to be causing these genital issues.
any possibilty d acyclovir alter my result to be negative? in case i cant do WB when do advise me to retest for a conclusive result? Previously Ive did more than 7 igg tests all came back non reactive for herpes only last week's it suddenly bacame 1.07. im currently on antibiotics, the nerve pain has reduced significantly so ill finish the course to see if its the actual culprit behind all this
No, more people are not seroconverting more than six months on.
This was either a false positive or you do have a HSV1 infection that is being missed by the testing as happens in 10% of cases.
You could take a Westernblot, there are ways for those outside US to obtain one, but if it positive for HSV1 you will have no firm fix on possible infection, which may have been from your youth.
Genital pain for three months is not likely to be herpes at all, start looking for a more realistic explanation.
i thought acyclovir will juz slow down the replication but once u get positive igg it will remain eventhough u took antiviral? thank a lot
result just came out;
Herpes Simplex Type I IgG 0.17 (Negative = 1.00)
Herpes Simplex Type II IgG 0.38 (Negative = 1.00)
this is after 5 days acyclovir. just a recap last test was 0.26 and 1.07 respectively all 1 month apart...pls comment friends..
what are the chances of false positive in my case?
thanks for the encouragement, i hope this is just fungal or bacterial onfection which can be eliminated using simple antibiotics, i really dont understand why the result suddenly shoot up only after almost 8-9 months exposure
yes, i got retested yesterday but after consuming acyclovir for 5 days. will this alter my coming result? i heard even after consuming the medication the result will maintain positive is it true.. but wat i experience d acycloiur really dont help the pain at all..
the dr told me they cant do swab coz mine never have blisters..here in my country the only avail test is only igg and igm, not even western blot available for hsv..im so depressed with excruciating pain in genital part for almost 3 months..
Also, I would definitely get your paper-cut sores swabbed within 48 hours of it's presentation. This way you can pinpoint of the sores are herpes related.
It seems more and more people are seroconverting 6+months and on. What you have on your side is the potential for your latest IGG to be a false positive based on the antibody count. I'd retest with the Elisa or get a WB at this point since it's been many months since exposure.
Good luck. And please post results if you retest.
