I just recently found out that I am positive for hsv2.  I have been with my partner for five years, he has hsv1, not 2.  Why isn't he type 2, and what are the chances of passing it to him, after all this time?

I got a sores on my genital and doctor suggested Herpes test the result i got is : HSV1 IgG = 6.81, HSV1 IgM = 0.2 & HSV2 IgG-IgM= 0.24 - 0.35 respectively.
But i wonder how i got this virus without having any kind of sex or Kissings with a girl in my Whole life. Is there any other chances of spreading this virus.

if you were negative for hsv1 and that is your hsv2 result then you had hsv2 prior to your current partner. do you know if you were ever tested for herpes before?   just make sure that indeed you were tested specifically for each and you had 2 results. would hate to have this be a combined result so it's worth checking to be sure.

I didn't ake specifically but she told me negative, I just don't understand.  I have never cheated, and have never had an out break, I still don't have anything.  I started taking the valacyclovir daily because I am diabetic and she said it would be a good idea.  My husband doesn't have type two but he has type one.

I can best help you if you get the actual test results to post here - e.g. hsv1 igg 6.8 and hsv2 igg 2.2 or whatever they are. that way we can be sure you were properly tested and see if your results are over the false positive cut off rate or not.

Do you use protection? Because that would explain why he doesn't have type 2. And as for passing it on to him get a prescription for daily use of valacyclovir( the generic for valtrex) and use a condom and do not engage in sexual activity when having an outbreak or for that matter once you show the signs of preparing for an outbreak, the " tingle", and for a week or so after
