if you contract hsv 1 genitally, does that mean you have genital herpes?

And are the blisters, lesions, on the genitals the same as if you Had an hsv 2  infection?

we never recommend visual diagnosis.

have you read the herpes handbook yet that we recommend in our read before posting post on the forum? the handbook has terrific info on testing.

so if you get diagnosed with genital herpes visually, there is still no way of knowing if it is HSV 1 or HSV 2? the only way to confirm the type is with a blood test?
