igm testing

I recently believe that i might have come into contact with HSV about a week ago. I don't have any lesions or anything but have had a tingling sensation in my genitals. I Got tested for HSV 1 and 2  and all other STDs this past weekend and both Igg tests and everything else came back negative(of course because there hadn't been enough time to build antibodies) However, now that I know it is not an old infection would an Igm test taken at the end of this week (2 weeks after exposure) be useful in seeing if I recently contracted the virus?

No it would not. igm are full of false positives.

IGM could indicate a positive when in reality it's sparking a positive for other old or separate infections outside of HSV. There is a reason Terri and other HSV experts do not recommend the test. I wish I would have followed there advice myself before paying for 4 of those expensive things, but I just wanted answers.

Do yourself a favor, don't test via IGM as there is no HSV test that can accurately show a recent infection outside of a positive sore shortly after a shady encounter.

Take a 12 week IGG type specific test and accept those results as fact.

just tingling and no obvious lesions isn't likely to be herpes.

should it continue, be seen and get checked out for jock itch/fungal infections genitally.
