infection risk

3)  I've had HSV I for many years (probably since childhood).  I haven't had a cold sore in 2+ years.  What are the odds of me shedding the virus?  And how often?  Should I be concerned w/ fellatio if my bf is HSV I & HSV II negative?

People can contract the same virus in either ganglion. So even through he has it oral he could contract it from a person hsv oral positive. The risk is rather low if his hsv oral is an old infection but none the less it can happen.

What would the risk be if my bf was also hsv1 positive?. The risk of oral to genital transmission? Wouldn't he be safe since he'd have built immunity to the infection? He said he's never gotten a cold sore but supposes that he may still have hsv1. So overall..what's the risk of transmission if he does have hsv1?

Hi shedding of oral hsv1 occurs 3-5% of the time so its not that often but a positive person giving oral sex unprotected is a risk bottom line and condoms would be recommended.
