interpreting herpes test results

hi everyone, i am from the philipines and i had a blood test done for both hsv 1 and 2 after 4 months of possible exposure., ive felt like i had most of the symptoms of hsv2 as there were small pimple looking bumps appearing on the shaft of my penis that sometimes come with sharp pricking pain.ive in fact accepted the fact that i have it and wanted to get treatment asap but then my tests came back negative. but after reading other peoples posts, i got confused with my test results  which is why i am posting to get an opinion from people who know better.
So here it goes:
Test:
*HSV Type 2 IgM (Anti HSV 2 IgM)
Result = 4.1   Unit = U/ml    Cut-off = less than 20
Interpretation = NEGATIVE

Test:
*HSV Type 2 IgG (Anti HSV 2 IgG)
Result = 3.8   Unit = U/ml    Cut-off = less than 20
Interpretation = NEGATIVE

Test:
*HSV Type 1 IgM (Anti HSV 1 IgM)
Result = 5.1   Unit = U/ml    Cut-off = less than 20
Interpretation = NEGATIVE

Test:
*HSV Type 1 IgG (Anti HSV 1 IgG)
Result = 5.3   Unit = U/ml    Cut-off = less than 20
Interpretation = NEGATIVE
My question is, is the cut off of less than 20 correct? because ive read other posts interpreting results using a different range such sa >1.09 is considered positive already. i am not really sure if i can trust this result because of its cutoff being too high from other tests that ive read. FYI i got tested in a private hospital in manila which costed me a lot too. ive had all sorts of symptoms of hsv such as tingling and dull pain near groin, bumps on shaft (its been there for more or less 2 weeks already and it hasnt popped yet), nerve pains all over body, folliculitis on thighs, etc. it has been frustating and tiring. please help me understand my results more clearly.
Thank you and appreciate your time.

Hi grace its me again. Ive done all sorts of tests such as doppler ultrasound to rule out varicocele, also had negative hiv and syphilis ttest.i met a new doctor few days ago and didnt seem to really care after hearing all the tests ive gone thru. He took a look at the bumps and said its nothing since my tests says so and that it might be contact dermititis. Gave me triamcinoione acetonide cream to apply twice a day. Its my 2nd day of using it and dont seem to see any results. The problem is I know something really is wrong. My left testicle feels heavy from time to time it feels very weird and annoying. Feels like its being dragged. It even affects my left thighs and leg as I feel weakness and numbness sometimes.there was onetime where I felt like a burning sensation in my left thigh as well. Ive read that herpes can be the cause of it as it affects the sciatic nerve which then gives my left testicle a heavy feeling and weakness in my tthigh and leg as well. Can I really rely on my negative test because I waiting 4 months before testing? There are so many othwr things happening to my body that I didnt even mention here yet.. I really do think there is something wrong

these don't sound herpes related at all.

are you following up with a dermatologist for them? that would be your next step.

could you have false negatives? you could but your symptoms aren't matching up for herpes either so since you waited 4 months, no real reason to retest for herpes from this encounter.

also the bumps have been there for quite long already. i do not remember when it exactly started but my estimate is it has been there for more or less 3 weeks already. they didnt rupture or break open. they still look the same way. and sometimes i still feel some pricking pain on where the bump is located

thanks for the reply and i apologize for my late response as i have been keeping myself busy from all these distractions. so based from ur answer it is clearly a negative result right? but then could there be any chance that it might be a false negative? even the test was conducted after 4 months of possible exposure?

if it is not herpes then i dont know where these symptoms are coming from. i had my possible exposure around mid of july then started having these dull throbbing sensation around the base of my penis. it started out as a dull feeling then it now has become more painful like a pinching feeling in the skin. i started noticing bumps on my penis shaft after i felt some pricky sharp feeling down there and spotted a bump when i checked it out. i also dont understand why my legs and thighs is suffering from follucilitis. i wouldnt say its that bad but it is not normal for me. does anyone know what is it im going through? thank you again

This looks very much like a test produced by Euroimmun. It attempts a quantification of the antibody levels, but is essentially an ELISA test just like Herpeselect. Instead of an index value to the cutoff level, hence greater than about 1 being positive, the cutoff is 20 and the range is from 2-200.

This is a clear negative.

The sane issues as with other testing are here. It takes 20-90 days to produce detectable antibodies. When did you have this test compared to first symptoms?

Hi and yes, some tests use different value numbers. So with these you would be negative testing 4 months post exposure.

ive read a post somewhere in this site that test cut offs for the western side and asia is different. for that particular person the cut off was also <20. so does it really mean i dont have hsv2?
