is this a possible way to get herpes?

today my friend itched a sore on the corners of her mouth and around a minute later, offered me a piece of gum. instead of giving me a whole one she ripped it in half with her hands, and then i began chewing it without thinking. she after told me that it was not herpes, but that her medication was drying her lips out causing them to crack at the corners, but i'm not convinced. is this a possible transmission route?

I'm fourteen and in good health , so how much is my risk? I mean I have severe anxiety so I drive myself until I go crazy about this

Hi, for children whose immune systems are weak there might be a risk but not for adults. With adults there needs to be direct contact with a herpes sore and a membrane tissue like the lips.
