Get herpes from kissing?

I know this was not wise in hindsight, but last night a stripper kissed me open mouthed for a couple of seconds,  I am concerned if I am now at risk to contracting any STDs as well as specifically HSV.  I have had no symptoms thus far.  Should I get std testing if any symptoms occur in the next month and/or just wait 3-4 months for the antibodies to develop?  I had a recent STD check a month ago which was all negative.

Here is what gracefromHHP wrote on the community forum, she is likely right, but I also wanted to get your expert advice: THANK YOU in advance.

Statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you've ever kissed in a lifetime has had hsv1 orally. do you worry every time you kiss someone?

You are incredibly unlikely to contract hsv2 orally from kissing. Not many folks have hsv2 orally and those who do, don't shed the virus much at all so the likelihood of contracting hsv2 orally from them is incredibly small.

really no reason for any testing at all from this

No problem, if you want to post for Dr. Handsfield, you normally need to do this on his website.  I will request that the medhelp folks transfer this to his board.

Ms. Warren, thank you very much for your input.  It is greatly appreciated. Please do not be offended by this because your experience at your STD is likey extensive, but my understanding is that a infectious disease specialist can provide a different angle to this.  I know this is a simple case, but I was actually expecting Dr. Handsfield to answer my question.  Is it anyway possible that he can confirm your recommendation?  I apologize for the inconvenience, but it is appreciated. I am never going to a strip bar again

I would wait four months and then call it good.

Thanks for your thoughtful advice, you can tell I am really anal about this stuff, I will likely get a follow up IgG test for peace of mind and confirmation for my future partner, should I get it at 3 or 6 months since I have read that antibiodies may not develop for 6 months?sorry i know this is likely irrational but hard to explain when one has such a std scare, thanks again

A large percentage of people who have herpes don't know it, but for someone who is looking very closely for symptoms, as you probably are, it is unlikely that you would miss even the most minor symptom.

Thank you, what about the fact that a large percentage of those infected do not have symptoms at all?  I am on day 2 post exposure, likely just freakin about it and no symptoms will hopefully occur

OK, then you aren't infected.  I still don't see the kiss as a big risk to you.  If you were going to get symptoms, they would appear within 2-10 days, usually around 5 days.  And since you have no antibody to either type, and you are focused on this right now, I would expect you might notice these symptoms quite a bit.

I have never had a cold sore on my lips and had negative HSV IgG type 1 and type 2 results about a month ago.

I totally agree with Grace.  She is also an expert nurse, and I trust her opinion completely.  Have you ever had a cold sore in your lifetime on your lip?  If yes, then you already have HSV 1 infection.  Have you ever had an antibody test for HSV 1?
