lupus and hsv 2

Hello I tested on Friday - igG for hsv 2:- results today 12.2. I also have lupus and recently stopped taking the prednisone and imuran. I recently ended a 7 year relationship. I met someone 2 months ago and recently had unprotected sex with him. He denies having herpes and says he has never had any signs or symptoms.....please help...I am so worried about my health.

Thanks again for your reply. Because of the lupus, I have blood work and a urinalysis to monitor my levels and kidney function. I have done this for years...is that wrong? My Rheumatologist and my PCP states I am the picture of health.

Most experts say that numbers mean nothing, only if its above the positive level means anything. But with the igg herpes select test, where above 1.2 is positive, a second test would be needed if it shows 3.5 and under, as maybe a false positive. So if you had a test where about 1.2 is positive, a 12.2 would be conclusive positive and may infer old as most labs stop at 5. The only way to know for sure if its recent is to have a positive swab test and a negative blood test as take around 8 weeks to show antibodies.
What to you mean your next step and what do you mean you have blood work drawn every other month?

Thanks Life360 for answering so quickly, but maybe I am confused, since the igg number is high, that means that I have had this for a while. The higher number means my body has adjusted to hsv 2? I have never had a break out, could this be from my past? What should the next step be?

Shouldn't my doctors already know this, I have blood work drawn every other month!!

Hi, if you took the igg where any number above 1.2 is positive and you had a 12.2, it would appear youve had it a while. Has nothing to do with lupus.
