HSV wouldn't be my first thought for someone complaining of pain with urination, but it is possible. Has your boyfriend ever been tested to see if he already has HSV 1 or HSV 2 by type specific blood test? If yes, and he is negative for both, then if he contracted HSV 1 from you, I would expect a few more symptoms than just pain with urination. Has he been tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea? Have you? Do you have HSV 1 orally or genitally? Are you taking daily medicine for herpes? So many questions, I know, but I need a bit more information to help you best. Thanks!
Terri
he hasn't been to the doctor yet but will if the pain persists. i don't think he has ever been tested for either hsv 1 or 2 before. i haven't been tested for chlamydia or gonorrhea but had a very persistent uti over the past several weeks. i have had hsv 1 in both regions, but not frequently. i had a very small cold sore about 2 1/2 weeks ago and may have had a genital sore but i don't think i did, although, it seems like i may not always know when i do. i am not taking any medication, but do pretty regularly take l-lysine.
any thoughts you may have would be really appreciated.
When you say that you've had HSV 1 in both locations, may I ask if those were both documented by type specific swab test, or is that an impression that you had?
