I think swabbing a sore that is not open would not be helpful in determining herpes. Herpes are not hard bumps.
I also get pimples down there frequently as I swear a lot, but this one is more inside of the vaginal lip then on the outside where They are likely to appear. Sorry for all the comments, I am just a nervous wreck over this
Oh and I forgot to mention this is on the inside of vaginal lip
Thank you. This lump feels like a hard cystic like ball and is not busting open or painful. I keep trying to pop it like a pimple, but nothing is happening. I made an appointment with planned parenthood today to swab, however if it's not opened, would there not even be a point to have it swabbed? I scheduled a blood test with my OB for next week. I may just cancel this appt. and wait for the blood test. Thoughts? Thank you so much in advance. You've been extremely elofuk
Herpes sores are not under the skin lumps and as a rule, inside the mouth are cankers and outside would be cold sores (herpes). Herpes lip sores are very obvious.
I am planning to schedule a blood test. I will post the results whenever I get them.
Now I've noticed a small, flesh colored looking lump on the inside of the lip. It doesn't hurt and looks like a small pimple maybe? Does this resemble herpes? It hasn't opened or started to break open or blister. I don't remember seeing this before

Thank you! Much appreciated.
Hi and welcome. Swabs are not dependable. If you want to confirm your herpes status you need a blood test 8 weeks post exposure as an indicator or 3 months for confirmation. Since the swab did come back negative and it was just one cut that did not spread, it would not appear as hereps. Herpes sores are not known to bleed or be puss filled but have clear liquid.
Also herpes tends to break out in the same spot give or take an inch and first time infections are at point of contact so you can pretty much rule out the anal as well.
Your lab is not correct in saying they cant tell the difference between hsv1 and 2 as the igg type specific can so do have the blood test but dont be overly concerned these are herpes sores.
I would appreciate comments from anyone with knowledge on the subject. I just mentioned grace because I've seen her posting on other herpes forums and she seems knowledgeable. Thank you in advance.
