oral hsv?

I had an encounter with a female at the end of october. We had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with each other and kissed heavily. She had no visual signs of anykind on her vagina or mouth. about a week after this, my lips became very chapped and cracked on the edges. My mouth had a metallic dry taste to it, I then got two lumps on the inside of my bottom lip at the corners and a couple more lumps on the inner cheeks, same on both sides. The lumps dont appear to have a white head. My mouth is very dry and i have red spots(dots) on the tip of my tongue. My mouth was painful but its getting better. I went to a sporting event last night and had some beers. My mouth was painful when i woke up and my face was a little red. I went to the doctor last week and he looked in my nose and mouth and said that i had a viral infection. but isnt that the same as herpes. I also have been sweating at night and a lost my appetite for a week. I know that oral hsv is common, but i would like your opinion because i have a daughter that started getting the red dots on her tongue with chapped lips. I have refrained from kissing her anywhere since my sexual encounter, so im not sure how she got this.

Keep trying to get your results.  HSV 2 rarely causes oral lesions.  These sound more like canker sores for you and your daughter.  We need to stop this thread now, we really aren't supposed to do this for two months!

I went in & was unable to get a copy since the doctor was not present to release them to me. I will try again, but in the meanwhile, I am still dealing with the oral pain as well as tingling, burnt feeling on my tongue. I had 2 small white blisters that were inside my lower lip that came and went in a few days. this friday my daughter complained of her lip hurting & she has 2 similar blisters inside her lower lip. we both still have very bad chapped lips & red spots on the tip of the tongue. I took her into a after hours clinic & the doctor didn't believe our symptoms were hsv related even after telling him I just tested positive. is there another oral sex bacteria related condition that would last this long. if she does have herpes, will she get recurrent outbreaks. I am sick to my stomach over this. once again, this issue began in the beginning of november.

I seriously doubt that you would get infected genitally and pass it to your own mouth and get flu symptoms.  I would strongly encourage you to go to the office and pick up your results right away so you don't have to wonder or worry any longer than possible.  Very frequently, doctors order the wrong test or misinterpret results.  Lets just make sure, OK?

i'll try - the nurse that called really didn't know what type of test was done and couldn't tell me much more than that I tested positive. they wouldn't mail me my results so I would have to go to the office to obtain the results. in the meanwhile, can you share your knowledge on my last question. thx

Can you please get a copy of the test results and post them exactly as they appear?  I want to be certain that you've had exactly the right test done.

terry - I did a blood test and was positive for hsv 2. my question is could I have been infected and thru sexual contact passed the infection to my mouth? and if I did would it cause primary flu like symptoms?

Herpes would be unlikely to hang around this long, especially with pretty minor symptoms.

I can't recall ever having a cold sore but when i was 12 i did have mono. The bump that came on the outside of my lip has gone down a little and i see two little pimple like blisters forming(pin size). my upper lip is still a little irritated. I am concerned about the length of time that i have had these symtoms. They started in mid-november.

It really isn't possible to tell much from your post, about whether you have oral herpes or not.  You have some pretty vague symptoms.  In general, spots on the tongue are NOT herpes, and chapped lips are NOT herpes, but the bumps that you describe are a bit unclear.  If you have questions about this, I would recommend that you see your dentist or your health care provider for more guidance about how this looks to them.  Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip?  Even as a child?  And have you ever been tested for herpes in your life?
