possible herpes or skin allergy?

I have an appointment for a dermatologist in a couple days but now there are no visible signs of anything, but this is what happened in the past week.  On Sat night I had protected vaginal sex with a new girl, sunday afternoon i went swimming and had on an old pair of shorts, then later that evening i noticed slightly red skin with red dots right at the top of my hairline in my groin area.  There were about 7-10 spots scattered over a 3in area (same area that the drawstring on my shorts came in contact) and only 2-3 were slightly raised.  I wouldnt describe these as blisters, zits, or sores and they did not hurt, itch, or look puss filled and they never opened.  Each day after sunday, the area has gotten better and now at 7 days there is only one spot that is not raised but pink in color.  The spots were less than 1mm in diameter.  During the week i wasnt sick or felt bad, pretty much if i never saw the spots I would not be posting this question.  I also read somewhere that its not likely an STD due to signs showing up in about 18hrs, whereas if it were it would've taken a couple days for diseases to incubate, is this a valid statement?

I see that herpes is spread by skin-skin contact, can you elaborate on this?  The girl "looked" like she was clean.  I know I'm probably getting worked up for nothing, but any reassurance until I see a doctor would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

So these bumps were at the top of your pubic hair area, like near your navel?  They certainly didn't act like herpes, nor is that area, by itself, particularly vulnerable to herpes first infection.  It could have been from the swimming.  Have you had other partners in your lifetime?  If yes, how many approximately?  have you ever been tested for herpes in the past that you know of?

These symptoms don't really sound classically herpetic to me, especially because of their location, their quick appearance after sex, their resolution without scabbing or ever blistering.  But that's about as much reassurance as I can give you about these symptoms.  If you've had sex in your life in the past, you could have acquired herpes and not known it.  If you are curious, you can get an IgG antibody test.

And by the way, there is no way to know if someone is "clean", i.e., not infected with an STD, by looking at them.  Many infections can be without recognized symptoms, and can be transmitted even when no symptoms are present.

When you go to see your dermatologist, ask if these bumps could possibly be molluscum contagiosum.

half of the bumps were located within 1/2 inch in the hair and the other half in area without hair, this outbreak would be the first time that i am noticing anything in my groin area

Thank you
