The IgM is a useless test - it detects other viruses, including chickenpox and mono, and can't differentiate them from HSV. You can pretty much disregard those results.
Wait until February and ask for either the IgG (good, especially if something other than the ELISA, which has had problems in recent years) or the Western Blot (best, 99% accurate).
Hi again, pay no mind to the igm test and if they charged you for this then you should speak to some medical authorities as is not an acceptable test to give as is flawed and they should know this.
Just take the igg herpes select at the 3 month mark and perferably the western blot test and let us know the results but re-read my first comment.

Ok, went back to the Dr. Office to have test run again. Now im negative for 1 and 2! I don't get it. Asked the nurse what test was run. She said IGM. The first one I recall being IGG. Is the IGM that un accurate? Should I try for the best 2 out of 3 and request it to be IGG. And is there more than one kind of IGG test?
I'm sorry, 1970 Trans Am – but four weeks is not enough time to get an accurate result from an IgG blood test. The IgG takes 13 to 16 weeks to return an accurate result. It's possible to detect antibodies before then, but to be absolutely sure, wait until four months have passed after exposure.
Condoms only protect about 30% of the time. General herpes can shed outside of the condom.
Since you've had HSV-1 for what appears to be at least several months, if not more than a year, you are highly unlikely to re-contract Type 1 anywhere else on your body, So it's highly unlikely that your genital symptoms are due to HSV-1.
You might see your doctor about your symptoms and see if you can rule out other causes, however. A lot of things look like herpes. Good luck to you.

Well fist of all no std symptom happens the next day.
Thanks for the quick reply and Happy Holidays.
No affair, my x and I have been divorced for some time now. I just remember that she had oral sores often, even carried a bottle of cure a sore in her pocket book. And we did engage in oral sex regularly.
Sorry for the continued questioning. I do currently have a sore inside of my mouth along with my throat being sore, not swollen. My head does feel warm but I have checked my temperature twice with different thermometers. First was 98.2 second 98.4, over the last couple days. So the two (head/gentile) be related? Just no gentile outbreak because it is not HSV 2? again, sorry for dancing around the same question. With all of my negative test results, I'm running out of STD/STI possibilities from receiving oral sex. These same exact symptoms have happened before. Approximately 3 years ago. At that time I was treated with a shot and prescription of 1g of azithromycin as precautionary measures. All test results were negative then as well. Don't recall them doing a HSV 1 test at tat time though. A condom was involved then for intercourse and I wondering if these symptoms could be to allergic reaction to the spermicide lubrication.
Hi, if your negative at 4 weeks, it is a good indicator. Also its highly unlikely you contracted hsv1 from your affair. You already have it oral and your value of 5 shows you have a high anitbody count that would really help prevent you from getting it in the genital area.
It is possible however but from your genital area symptoms they dont really appear herpes related. You describing prodrome symptoms and are a sign of a coming outbreak but it is more for someone who already had a genital outbreak before. With this prodrome symptoms a sore would develop about a week after they start. If you were to get it, it would be more from your wife if she has hsv1 oral and gives you oral sex.
