are you in the US? If so, she can order up her testing herself through an online resource like healthcheckusa and similar sites.
unprotected oral sex isn't safe sex! protect yourself by only giving and receiving protected oral sex so that you don't have to worry about things like this :) Remember it's so much more than the hsv1 you know you have, it's what could a partner have that they could give to you too!
so would it take months for her to test + from this encounter? No it would not. Most people will test + within weeks. that said, if she was hsv1 negative prior to this encounter with you and contracted hsv1 genitally, odds are she would have a very "classic" initial ob that wouldn't go unnoticed. no obvious lesions within 21 days, no reason for her to have testing in the future just from this encounter.
Yea unfortunetly clinics or places ive called told me that they will only give her an igg test only if she is showing symptoms otherwise they will not test her :/
Guess only time will tell.... wish us luck! And thank you
Yes thats correct. Upward of 65% of the adult population would test positive for oral hsv1 so theres a 50-50 possibility she already has it.
Hi life360,
Thanks thats another thing i wanted to know! So if she takes the igg test and is positive for hsv1 now, then more than likely she already has had hsv1 since it takes months to develop antibodies for it correct?
Hi also, if she tests now and is positive then contracting it in the genital area would not be any concern as we are basicly immune to getting it in a different area. Thats why Grace was asking if she had tested already.
Thanks for your reply grace.
No she hasnt. I have no idea what her status is with that and im scared to ask at this point. I dont want to freak her out! Id feel so horrible if i gave her something. Would anything come up in the test right now if she were to take it? Thanks
a lack of a history of cold sores doesn't mean that she is hsv1 negative. did she seek out type specific herpes igg blood testing to know her status for sure?
nothing you can do otherwise at this point. should she experience obvious lesions in the genital area in the next 2 weeks, she should be seen promptly for diagnosis and treatment.
