possile hsv1?

hey all,
quick question, i recently recieved 10-15 seconds of oral sex from a girl last friday night. it was unprotected and i am a little worried that i might have caught hsv1 from her. i have developed a red bump on the left part of the shaft of my penis. its kinda sore but only kind of hurts when i really mess around with it. im in college and winter break is coming up soon so i plan on seeing a doctor when i get home.its just weird because it kinda looks like a pimple an when i try and pop it all i get is some clear fluid coming put. also the bump is in an area where there is hair around, so could this possiblybe an ingrown hair of some sort? an also we really got into dry humping that night so could that possibly have some effect as to what that could be? also id like to mention that since monday when i dicovered it its already gone from red to pink and looks healthier, could it possibly be from me changing soaps? because right after i changed soaps in the shower it looked pinker. any comments or suggestions would be great.

it depends on many things as to how long they last. it's not always weeks by no means.

but doesnt herpes outbreaks last longer than 5 days? i thought that they usually last for weeks at a time? or is it different if its hsv1?

if it's already gone then it's too late to be seen.

you would need to wait 3 months after the encounter to be tested for herpes but since oral sex was the risk, just testing hsv1+ on the blood test wouldn't tell you if you have it orally or genitally.

i would agree but it hasnt ever developed into a blister or anything. its already almost gone and the only scap on it is from me trying to pop it. plus i never had any vesicales or any other of the typical symptoms. would you recomend still getting tested? and how long do herpes outbreaks last? especially if its genital hsv1 and not type 2?

you need to be seen today or tomorrow for this, not put it off until you get home. if this really is herpes, being seen now will help increase the odds of an accurate lesion culture as well as treating it early keeps it from getting worse.  if this really is genital herpes, you'll have a hard time concentrating on finals if it gets worse.  going to your college clinic is a fine option for being seen.
