red scrotal syndrome or herpes?

Well over a 2 months ago I had unprotected sexr. After 3 weeks passed i started to notice a mild skin inflammation on my scrotum. It was manageable at first, tried moisturizing the skin, using lamisil, putting diaper rash cream in weekly intervals. Then I stopped putting anything on it and boom, it turned into a red, itchy, burning ball of flame on my testicles down through to perianal parts. Scratching one morning irritating it to no end and the burning feeling persisted for a day or so. No noticeable lesions, sores, etc..., so another week past with not much improvement and  then again another bout of really itching hotter than hell skin on my scrotum, a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, stiff neck (possibly due to the common cold and/or anxiety), though my penis is completely unaffected. There is two symmetrical "pink" areas of the skin on both sides of my scrotum that rubs against the leg that are different in color and appearance and have been persistent since the whole ordeal started.

I went to a med clinic that tried to assure me it wasn't herpes, i gave blood, but only for the usual suspects (everything but herpes) because the clinic doesn't do herpes antibody tests. Nothing back from that, but I was given doxycycline which isn't doing anything but upsetting my stomach. So I can rule out most except the viruses. Though nothing in any STD forums mention anything about persistent skin irritation with no visible sores. So I went to a dermatologist, same answer. Eczema at best is what I got with some steroid creams that isn't doing sh*t.

Can anyone else relate? Anybody that did confirm HSV-2 with these type of symptoms? Has anyone ever had late outbreaks that last for long duration of time without the presence of typical "lesion/sore/blister" of the skin? Any help would be much appreciated.

return to be seen regularly to the dermatologist to try to get to the bottom of this.

nope, the dermatologist ruled out fungus based on the length of time I've been taking antibiotics. no skin sample. Absolutely no input, I might need to find a new dermatologist. He told me the same about herpes, it would've affected much more than the scrotum, but reading some people's response gives me a little bit of uncertainty. Add to the fact that I haven't been tested via serum tests to exclude it. Will be doing that soon to completely get it off my mind. thanks for the input.

this isn't herpes going on.

continue to follow up with the dermatologist as needed. did they do a scraping of your skin to check for fungus?
