scared and embarassed Herpes

I am a 45 yr old father of 4.  Married.  Generally healthy.  Was in Atlanta on work last week (WED) and after a day of meetings found my way to a fairly nice (if that applies) strip club.  The last time i was in a club I was 25...and times have changed.  After refusing a few lap dance opportunities one of the guys bought me a private dance and with some prodding I obliged.   What a mistake.  The gal was super aggressive.  After two min of basic dancing she pulls off my bel and opens my pants.   Of course I could/should have stopped there but mother nature was taking over.  She rubed my penis and other things off and on for a period of time.  During the 30 minute dance we kissed (open mouthed...what was I thinking) five times or so. And I rubbed her genitalia a bit.  Finally she went down and put my penis I. Her mouth for 5 sec or less until I said no.  No climax, no pre cum.  Nothing.  But immediatley knew I screwed up big time.:

I caught the first plane back home and went into work.  My genetalia were fine.  No rash, cuts marks etc.  Initially I was scared about HIV, but based on your site I understand I would be the first to acquire it from a 5 second effort.   Of course I am concerned about all the STDs but mostly HIV and Herpes.   After the HIV discovery I turned to Herpes.  I have no rash, blisters or sores.  I have had the tingling in my crotch and thighs.  I have had dry/chapped lips and I have felt tired with some flu like symptoms (I'm very tired from being in ATL, portland and LA since last WED.  I still have barely slept as I am consumed with this episode in my life (guilt fear, embarrassment).  I do feel better today on Four hours sleep.

So my questions are as follows
1) what should I do medically?
2) what precautions should I take for my family
3) what are the odds of a problem
4) I am so concerned that I feel every change in my body and immediately wonder if its herpes.  What should I be experiencing on Day 6 if I was exposed?
Thank you.

Well, you might obtain a baseline herpes test.  If you test positive for either HSV 1 or 2, it isn't from this encounter.  If you wait to test and it is positive, you will never know if the infection was new or old.  You want IgG tests only.  Both HSV 1 and 2.

I don't think you really need to take many precautions.  I can't tell you there is not risk but I can tell you it is minimal, for sure.  The odds of getting herpes in the circumstances that you describe are really low.

If you were going to get symptoms, they usually come in 2-10 days, blisteres, sores.

Get a baseline test, I think that is important in this circumstance

None of the mouth symptoms that you describe are consistent with herpes.  Oral herpes is usually pretty consistent with its symptom presentations.  These are them.

Last post I think.

Thank you again for "being here".  Without your site and thoughts uniformed people like me would not know where to begin.  The combination of communicating with you, and reading Dr. Hook and Dr. Hansfield's posts have been great.

So, genital/thigh discomfort appears to be gone or mostly gone.  I have been to a provider twice and he said to sit tight and take a wait and see approach given how low risk the events were (he was willing to write a Valtrex script in case I needed it).  With all due respect to him I don't think this is his area of expertise.  As a result I am going to get a Full STD workup done but wanted to get your expert opinion of the following topic.

I have had chapped/sticky/burning lips beginning three days after the evening at the "club".  I have also recently had a bout of dry mouth on and off for a day or two.  Based on what I have read, I don't think Herpes would present itself for 23 days like this.  To be clear, I have not had a lesion, a blister or a rash.  I have had two pimples that have cleared up in 24-48 hours and tingling/burning in my groin/thigh/genital area.  The only new observation I have is if I push my tongue against my lip you can see what I believe are Fordyce Granuales in my upper and lower lip (very small-pin sized, lots of them, more on the top than bottom.  They are under the skin).  I have been using Vaseline, Bistex, and Burts regularly but the Dryness/Stickiness and burning remain.  My question is "Could Herpes (or any other STD that you know of) cause these symptoms specifically on my lips?"   I know you might have addressed this in the last post but I wanted to be specific.

Again, I know I am becoming ridiculous and there is only so much you can do via the internet but I believe your knowledge base/experience is much greater than my Primary care physician.

I don't plan on asking another questions so thank you in advance for your thoughts.

My hope is that's what it is.  I am pretty sure that's what the tingly/burning thighs and groin are.  I hope I have juat been licking my lips as a nervous activity that has caused the dryness/burning on my lips. I am sure the mind and conscious are very powerful.

I am Going to take your words and see if I can get this behind me.  Thank you again for being a resource.

Not clear what the burning might be but by itself and with your very low risk exposure herpes seems very unlikely.  I think it could be overobserving for any possible symptom , do u think that could be?

I meant to ask you this question not the support community.  As a reminder  I had the following exposures with a stripper; hand job, 5 secs or less of oral and five or so open mothed kisses with other types of touching.  No climax.  No real effort to.  This occured 23 days ago.  First, exposure outside marriage in 20 years.  You seemed to think risks were low. But a baseline WS worthwhile.

I have had no outbreaks, no rashes no bumps, no classic symptoms.  What i have had is the following; two facial blemishes around my mouth that clear up completely within 24-48 hrs (fairly typical for me no open sore just a pimple or ingrown hair). Non specific "sores" in my mouth (a canker sour, a bump, etc.  No pain and gone quickly).   More concerning/unusual to me, are the following ailments; intrermitant burning in my inner thighs and general genital area...non specific and my lips that are not chapped but burn  This is uncomfortable.

Can you provide some guidance as to what this might be?  Are they symptoms of annother std or herpes?   Are they a preoccupation?  Is it a function of anxiety?  What could it be because it is going on for a while now.

Really appreciate your help

Thank you for the response and I plan on taking your advice.   Although not out of the woods yet (by a long shot) your explanation of the low risk associated with these activities and what i inferrerd to be minimal family risk has at least eliminated what I think are the anxiety related symptoms (crawling/burning skin, preoccupation with penis health).

I will follow up in the future if needed.  Thank you and your colleagues for the helpful site/information.

Finally, I won't be going back to a gentleman's club for at least another 25 years and I wanted to clarify my headline scared and embarassed.  I  am/was scared and I am embarrassed about how I exposed myself to this virus.  Not that I might have it.   I didn't want to demean or belittle anyone who has to deal with this.

Thanks again.
