so confused about herpes

I recently got my yearly check up and checked for stds except for herpes. The same day I had my Dr appointment  my boyfriend cheated on me. Everything came back good from that appointment. But after 6 days of him cheating I got an awful itchy, burning and a white discharge. My boyfriend got a few bumps in his pubic hair area. I got scared and went and got rechecked. This time I got the blood test for herpes. Everything came back negative except for the herpes were positive. My boyfriends tests came back negative. In our 8year relationship he has had 18 different partners. I had been with someone different a year ago. A couple of days ago he got a sore on his sac that looked like the end of a pencil eraser. It broke the following morning. Blood and fluid like stuff came out. I have no sores. I have been treated for yeast infection I'm on my second time being treated because I still have white discharge and itching. I'm also taking acyclovir 400mg twice a day and no change. Today they took swabs of one sore that is in my boyfriends pubic hair area it is the size of quarter but mostly under the skin that one breaks a lot. I have read a lot on the internet and some places say you can get a false positive. I'm going to see another doctor tomorrow. I'm just so confused. Do I just accept that I have herpes even though I never have had any sores or is there a possibility I don't have herpes and there is something else wrong down there. I do get cold sores often. I know there herpes

You can't get a WB from labcorp but you can get one through quest labs if your provider orders it.

encourage your provider to better educate themselves on herpes testing by reading the 2010 cdc herpes guidelines. You need additional testing to confirm your status.

There is no such thing as being exposed to HSV.  You either have Herpes or you don't.

The western blot is for HIV but there is a Herpes Western Blot and it is the gold standard for HSV testing.  Your doctor needs to update their HSV knowledge by reading the CDC 2010 guidelines for herpes.

At this point follow up with the confirmatory testing.  Does your doctor use quest labs?

I went to the doctor today. She told me that I have been exposed to genital herpes virus sometime in my life and that it was possible I was exposed to it by me giving oral sex, but I have only gave my boyfriend oral sex and no other guy ever but he tests negative. Can I have the type 2 herpes just from cold sores. I asked about the wb blood test and she told me that that test is for testing for hiv and that another blood test wouldn't do any good. She said maybe I have had a lesion and didt notice but I know myself. I would've known if there was something down there and I can say 100% I have never had any lesions down there. She did a exam down there and said I look fine down there and the discharge I have is normal. But is it possible the test was wrong and I never have been exposed to genital herpes and that I just have cold sores.

herpes lesion cultures need to be done on symptoms that are less than 48 hours old.

you hsv2 igg is a low positive and needs confirmed with further testing. A herpes Wb blood test would be the best test for confirming your status.

The doctor took swabs of the big  sore he has down their today. she said the results should be in within 72 hours. That sore has been there for a few weeks. She did not swab the sores that just came out a few days ago. Should that make any difference.

if you can get the results of your herpes blood test to post here, I can better help you. all I need to see are the actual numeric results - e.g. hsv1 igg 4.3 and hsv2 igg .34 or whatever they are. same as if your bf can call for his test results for you to post, I can be sure he was properly tested also.

has your bf been seen for his current symptoms?
