meme.....I have nothing to add to my prior advice.
grace
2nd and 3rd test were titer testing not herpeselect 1st and 4th were herpselect should i still get the western bolt?
meme - Both Dr Hook and I have spelled out the next steps to take - either believe your negative test results and that your only positives were most likely false positives or get a WB to confirm your status for once and for all.
grace
are false neg. after 17 years that common?
yes they can still be false positives.
grace
so even my tests where they ran just the hsv-2 and it was pos. with no numbers. that could still be a false pos. are false neg. very common since i have had 2 and no new partners in the last 17 years?
so since nothing has changed in the last 17 years iam going to assume that i neg. right?
I'm sure Dr Hook would be very amused by that question meme....lol

last question so according to tests dr hook is saying that i don't have hsv-2 right? is dr hook a medical dr.?
I'm not sure what else you want me to do for you at this point? If you need reassurance in addition to the advice you've already been given both on this forum and on the std experts forum then get the WB. Otherwise it's time to stop worrying that you have herpes and move on.
grace
just wondering did you receive my msg.?
are false neg. common after a 18 years relationship. and 3 unprotected oral performed on
the male and protected intercourse. these were 20 years ago.
I SENT 2 OTHER POST NOT SURE IF YOU HAVE SEEN THEM YET? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF FALSE NEGS. 3 DIFFERENT PARTNERS PROTECTED VAGINAL SEX AND UNPROTECTED ORAL SEX ON HIM? AND 4TH A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP NOW 17 YEARS.
ARE ALL VAGINAL ULCERS CAUSED FROM HERPES?
i recently switched drs. and my new dr. suggested that the herpeselect was one of the best test so that is way i had that test done. she also wants to recheck me in nov. to see if anything changes so i will suggest one of the other test that you suggested. so is my last test that i had done the herpeselect is it pos. or neg.? oh by the way thanks for being so understanding.
There isn't a herpes simplex blood culture - there are viral lesion cultures and there are pcr swabs you can do on active lesions.
The herpeselect is a terrific test overall but does have some false positive issues to it. You shouldn't be using the herpeselect at this point - you want a different blood test like the WB or even a herpes biokit if you really feel you need best out of 5 here. Personally I'd feel comfortable not retesting again at this point. It's very unlikely you really have hsv2.

i guess i just want to make sure because iam so confused because i have been told you are definitely neg. and then i was told that i was possibly pos. but according to dr. hook he thinks that iam neg. right? so is the herpeselect test more accurate than the herpes simplex blood cultures or is there any differences.
If you feel the need to do any more testing at all I wouldn't do anything but the WB at this point. don't keep setting yourself up for more worry.
Dr Hook's feeling is no more testing at all if I recall from his post correct? Why won't you heed his advice on this?
grace
so if i get another herpeselect and it is neg. would you say that iam neg.?
so is there any reason why i keep getting pos. and neg. results?
yeah the dr. that did the culture said that it did not look like herpes to her. maybe that is a good thing right?
The lesion culture is the best if it comes back +. Unfortunately many things can make a lesion culture come back negative and getting one a couple of days into things is one of them. A negative lesion culture of a suspicious looking lesion needs follow up blood testing which you have done but unfortunately your results have been in the greyish area.
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/560775 is a terrific former post by HHH on the std expert forum that goes into it in more detail if you want more reading.
grace
not sure if you received my last post what is the difference between herpes select and herpes simplex blood culture which is more accurate?
