Thank you in advance, can someone please demystify this test result?

The following are my test results for HSV. mI wish they gave me a type-specific test, but alas ,I am being told that I am testing positive for a recent infection of either 1 or 2, from within the last 6 months.

Is the 22.40 the indication of the recent infection?
Is that considered a "high" reading or value ?
I am not showing physical symptoms.

HSV 1/2 IGG ANTIBODY > 22.40 IV
HSV 1/2 IGM ANTIBODY 1.12 < 0.90 IV

Thank you for any clarification to give me better understanding!

My heath care provider didn't say what kind of herpes I have, I believe it is jab2 bases on research I have done. So many people do not get tested for it. I know it is expensive but if doctors would have ppl tested then maybe it wouldn't be spread around so much. I wouldn't have known had I not had an outbreak, and my ex who gave it to me has yet to have any sign or symptom but I demanded he get tested. At least it does not affect fertility like other stds.

Grace I wanted to let you know that I went to westover heights clinic (lucky me I live in Portland) and got the test. The results are:

type 2: .053
type 1: 7.87

Which means I'm negative for genital but positive for oral. I am thrilled! I understand oral hsv is still somewhat of a concern, but I have never had an outbreak so it has been a non event thus far. This whole experience has jarred me in to deeper awareness about taking care of my health and charge of my healthcare. Thank you again for suggesting I get retested!

yes it is sad that so many providers aren't ordering the proper testing when the majority of their patients have at least one type of herpes :(

I've already got an appointment at another place to get the IGG, type specific test. It's amazing that I had to do so much of my own research to figure this out.
I thank you so much for this info!  Very very helpful.

if your regular provider can not figure out how to order the proper testing, then indeed seek out a different provider. Give your clinic a call and talk to them about getting the right testing done and improving their practices to better serve their patients.

not a darn thing you can figure out about your herpes status from the testing you had done. total waste of time and money :(

Wow okay thank you. Should I go to a different provider? Is there anything about this test that indicates to you that I could have herpes?

you had the wrong herpes testing done :(  unfortunately you know absolutely nothing about your herpes status from the non-type specific testing you had done. you'll need to repeat your testing with a type specific herpes igg blood test.

herpes igm testing is greatly flawed testing and should've never been drawn on you either.  The provider who ordered your herpes testing is not in compliance with current CDC herpes testing guidelines and needs to update their herpes testing knowledge.
