Herpes?

Hi,
I just got back from the doctor today because of a rash I have on my butt "crack". It was having a few blisters, it was itchy like any rash, but it was previously scabbed over from doing a lot of sit ups and I scratch off the scab there. I've had this problem for about a week. Now the doctor is doing a herpes test on me.  Now I did have protected sexual activity a week prior to my condition worsening.  And further more, my female friend did not touch me back there. So my question is 1. Can herpes manifest in the opposite area of possible contraction? 2. Is my condition herpes or just an infected rash of some sort?

Your condition is not likely to be herpes from a protected one time encounter.  Yes, herpes can manifest in random places in the boxer shorts area. But during an initial outbreak, it usually appears at the place of infection - usually the penis of the male.  So taking this info into consideration - I would say you're not likely to have been infected with herpes - at least as an initial out break.  If you haven't been tested in the past, do yourself a favor and get it done to put it out of your mind and bring yourself some relief.  Otherwise it will always be in the back of your mind!  Good luck! (I'm not an expert - but it doesn't sound like herpes to me but more likely a regular rash possibly from sweat/workouts)

no, you don't have to have contact in the area of the symptoms.

what testing was done by your provider?

have you ever had herpes igg blood testing done before?

was this a regular partner?

The test that I'm waiting for the results from is the blood test one. And my partner is a pretty regular one. I mean in the past 3 months we have been having sexual relations. But, I always wear protection and since I've been with her I have not had any symptoms that I have seen on the Internet in the places she has been around.

if this is a recently acquired herpes infection, it may not show up on blood testing for awhile yet.  it's unfortunate that your provider didn't also do a lesion culture on your symptoms.

talk to your partner and see if she has had herpes igg blood testing from her last partner. it's not a part of routine std testing so she very well might not have had it done and she'll need to seek it out.

once you get your blood test results, I can help you with them too.
