yeast infection or hsv-2

I too am having a similar scare. A month ago I had unprotected sex. The only time. A few weeks later I started my period. Towards the end of my period my bf and I were messing around. We didnt have sex but there was friction.  When I went to change pads I felt two spots that appeared to be raw. I figured from the pad rubbing. The next morning I noticed symptoms of a yeast infection. I seen my dr about 3 days later wanting a full blood work test run because I was terrified of herpes. She did a pap and said I had a severe yeast infection but she would need blood work because of the sores. I had no other herpes symptoms though.  No fever. No clusters of blisters. No flu like symptoms. Justtwo ululcerations. She gave me diflucan and a generic for valtrex. Ive been on it for 3 days now. My blood work came back negative today as did my boyfriends (we tested him to be safe) they said to re check in 3 months.. could this be a severe yeast infection or more likely herpes?

Thank you for your time.  I won't quit worrying until I retest in a few months. Ive been terrified.  Ive read online so much stuff and its scared the hell out of me. I know the symptoms ive had are yeast infection related ive never really had a yeast infection before that I can ever remember and im 21. But the two ulcerations I had worried me. I read that they can occur if a yeast infection gets out of hand so im praying that's what it is. Theres only been the two ulcerations. The same spots. No blisters. They havent healed but they havent spread either. I thought with herpes they spread especially during the first breakout.. today ive noticed a strong yeasty smell like the smell of yeast in a bud light. Ive just been worried. Ive only been sexually active a little over a year and 14months with the same man. We breifly broke up and I had one unprotected incounter. So ive been freaking out...

To be on safe side, I'd repeat the HSV IgG testing 12 weeks after exposure to this other person. It doesn't seem much like herpes, but best to know fer sure!

If both you and your partners blood tests were zero and you both have had no other partners in the three months leading into the test then this is most unlikely to be herpes. No need for further testing unless there are other partners in the three month window period.

There is a small chance a HSV-1 infection would not show up in the blood tests, check with your partner as to whether he has any recollection of cold sores at any stage from childhood to now.
