I had a swab test on a wart about a year ago and it came out negative for numerous strains includng 6 and 11. Then went to a clinic and they said it was a wart due to Hpv. But IM still not sure as the company who did the test assure me of its accuracy. Confused.
To the OP i would say Ive been back to clinic with other things I've noticed and been told they are cysts, hair follicles etc. Follicles don't necessarily have to have hairs coming out i was told. So the only thing I've seen is the initial wart. No cauliflower appearance, but LOOKED like a wart. This was frozen. No reappearance. No pain, went dark and gone. Slight difference in skin colour now. Nothing since and its been almost 10 months.
No, since you have had unsafe sex with her for those ten years, you wife has been exposed to it and has HPV too. You cannot be careful for sex that you've had with her in your past, so its silly to be careful now. Removing it via biopsy or not is a personal decision that you have to make. If you want to know what strain it is or whether it is a GW, then have it removed with some expectation of a scar where it was. Of just live with it and not have any pain or skin damage there. The other thing you can as I wrote earlier is ask your wife to be tested. If she doesn't have HPV, then its just a skin growth and not a GW. If she does have it, then that is a GW.
Follow up-
I went to the doctor and he didn't clear anything up. He asked a number of questions and looked at it. He referred me to a dermo. He said it looks like a genital wart, but told me not to be concerned. In fact, he told me to carry on as normal, including sex with my wife. I asked if is normal to last 10 years, he said.... sure. Needless to say, I am confused.... if it is GW, wouldn't a doc want me to be careful with my wife. Is it possible the doc called it a wart but doesn't consider it a STD? I can say, the one saving grace is that I have had it for this long, my wife is familiar with me and knows the growth has been there our entire relationship....
Its rare for GWs to stick around that long. If your doctoris concerned, a biopsy will be performed on one or all of them. Your wife should get herself tested for HPV even if she doesn't have any visible bumps. Hopefully you are seeing a dermatologist or an urologist?
