Contagious VS Not Contagious

I was diagnosed with low risk HPV a year and a half ago. I never had treatment for the purpose of not being able to afford it. At first I had cauliflower like warts and after a month, they were replaced with flesh toned warts. I'm sorry for being too graphic. So fast forward to now.... I have the same warts from a year and a half ago and I haven't had any new ones. This probably sounds stupid but am I still contagious? I want to be able to have a child but I don't want to risk transmitting the virus to my boyfriend. I have read in the forum that the virus can ''clear'' within 6-12 weeks. Is that after the vaccine? I'm confused and your help will be greatly appreciated.

What Ibizian means is that her body has cleared the virus, but her immune system kept a small copy of it to use in the future -- in the event that she were re-exposed. The same thing happens when you get a virus like the Chicken Pox or Mumps, etc.

yes it is confusing......visualize this.....the virus will clear the body..like with me.....i have high risk hpv....had leep......3 pap tests say its gone from my cervix.I am awaiting #4 pap.if #4 is clear then that means it is gone from my cervix...but has stored in my body.....gone dormant....is asleep....does that make more sense to u?

No my gyno did not treat me for it and I do not have insurance. She told me to wait it out for a couple of months and see if it clears on its own. My friend went to the same gyno not too long ago and they started giving out mandatory hpv shots so maybe when I go back, I can get my shot. I don't know. I've been doing research on HPV and while some say it can clear, others say it doesnt. This is all just confusing to me.

Nevermind. I just read that women between the ages of 20-30 get an HPV test only if their paps are inconclusive.

I went to a gyno after I first noticed a bump. My pap test came back normal. The gyno told me that I had low risk. I'm not aware of being able to have low and high risk hpv. Thanks for the info. I guess I'm going to have to take an hpv test.
