Previous HPV

I was diagnosed with HPV (the kind that causes GW) roughly 8 years ago. I haven't had another outbreak since the initial diagnosis. And I have had 2 normal paps since that time, although I'm not sure if they tested for HPV. I have a new partner after getting a divorce and we had sex 1 time, unprotected. Now I feel guilty and paranoid that I have spread the infection on to him, even though I haven't had any symptoms in so long. I didn't mention anything to him about my past, because I honestly never thought once about it until afterwards. What are the chances of him contracting GW?? Please help.

Very very low chance. Almost zero. Most (90%) people clear it for good where it is no longer detectable and a person is not able to be infect a new partner. No one knows who is in this 90% but after 8 years and 2 normal pap results, you are probably in this 90%. Do realize that if your partner isn't a virgin, he may already have it but not know it because there are no symptoms.
