HPV Contraction Question

Recently my ex gf told me she had contracted HPV after 2 abnormal paps. She has had no other signs or symptons(i.e. warts) other then the abnormal cells. We have been broken up for 6-7 months and in the 1 year span we dated we did have unprotected sex. Since the break up, i have not had intercourse with anyone else however I have had sexual contact(brief genital to genital rubbing with another girl). After doing some research I have learned that direct skin to skin contact is a mode of transmisson for HPV. My questions are; 1. since it has been 7 months since our last sexual contact what are the odds that this hpv has been cleared from my system. 2. is it less common to transmit this non-wart type of hpv via gential to genital rubbing without any intercourse. 3. can you pass hpv on for life.

thank you for taking a look at this post and any answers will help, this has been very stressful

If your ex had abnormal cells and no warts, she probably had high risk HPV which dosen't cause genital warts, it causes cell changes in the cervix. There are no tests for men to see if they have high risk HPV.

1) Doctors advise if you have been symptom free for 3 months you can assume you have cleared of the virus, some say 6 months. Though there is a risk of the virus becoming active again. 90% become clear after 2 years.

2) That is true.

3) Some have stubborn cases of HPV which mean they are contagious for many years. Although the majority clear the virus after 2 years and therefor stop passing the virus on.
