HPV and anal cancer for non-gay men

Hi, i'm 19, non-gay, athletic male.

I'm pretty sure i'm HPV positive - i was dating a girl for year now and she tells me now she has HPV. I think i have something like warts - at least my groin skin is very irritable and itchy and i think it is also kinda red, not sure though.. i have this symptom like for a month now.

But my question is actually about cancer that HPV might generate. What are my chances to get an anal cancer, considering that i'm not gay? Have there ever been a non-gay man with an anal cancer? Should i go and get anal pap test and if yes - then where should i go, basically? I live in washington dc suburbs.

Thank you

I don’t understand why you and others feel the need to point out that you have a non-gay medical disease. There is no such thing HPV is HPV and happens to males and females regardless of sexual orientation. I don’t have a clue how I got it  but I am sure it has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Please don’t take me wrong in tone, I don’t man to lecture or scold, I just am tired of guys being insecure about their sexuality and feel the need to point out how straight they are as they tell stories about having sex with other guys and how is was the most intense sexual experience they have had. It is all okay to experience and enjoy sex in any you have in the past as well as any sexual experiences that you will have in the future. In light of the threat of penile cancer, I am not passing up any opportunity that presents itself to experience new things and maybe get to fulfill my number one fantasy.

I am glad you revised your comment Dallas. I went for my first colonoscopy a few months ago and my doctor found a growth just inside my anus. He took a biopsy and scheduled me for surgery, right away. He thinks he got it all and the biopsy was negative but I was diagnosed with HPV. My doctor gave me extensive research to review and it was clearly pointed out the I am at risk for anal and or penile cancer because of the Hpv. He advised that the best we can do is to keep a close eye on my anus and genitalia/penis. I am freaked out that I am at risk for cancer in my anus which is real scary but cancer of the penis is really really scary. I need to find a specialist for penile cancer; my doctor specializes in surgery of the colon, rectum, and anus and wants me to have a colonoscopy every three months for awhile so he can catch anything that shows up at the earliest moment. I shaved my penis and testicles clean so anything unusual shows up I will see it more easily although I don’t yet know what to look for. Any info that you may be aware of that can help me know what to do and what to look for would be appreciated.

I agree with Dallas's amended comment.  However, you really should get this checked.  You could have hemmorhoids or something.

I am going to amend my above comment. Penile cancer has not PROven to be HPV related. That research is on going. Antibodies to HPV type 16 are found in 60 % of penile cancer cases. What this means we don`t know yet. And to let you know cancer of the penis is VERY rare, unlike cervical cancers women get. Take care.

Hpv has not been associated with anal or penile cancer. A good exam is recommended for you. Anal PAP smears are not done. So my advice is to see your local Doctor for a good exam and futher testing or treatment.Take care.
