Dear All,
I am a male so apparently unable to take undergo normal HPV tests.
I have been in a long term relationship for some time, but recently split. I met another girl and things were great, when she told me she had HPV. At the time I knew very little about it.
She told me that she had high risk HPV diagnosed 6 years ago, and 4 years ago underwent an operation to remove the malformed cells. The last couple of years she has had tests and has been told that nothing has shown up - i.e. not active.
My question is, am I still likely to have been infected with high risk HPV, even though she has had the operation and now shows as clear?
I have slept with someone else since, and am now very upset at the possibility I may have high risk HPV, without any way of checking, and could have passed this on.
I can't face sleeping with anyone or getting close to anyone for fear of infection. I realise how serious this is for women and to me it seems almost like I am passing on a possible death sentence.
I appreciate this may be a little over dramatic, but it is how I feel at the moment.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
