How long

I have been married for nine years. In the past 3yrs my wife has been getting erratic PAP results from LSIL to normal then HSIL. she had a colscopy and they where unable to get it all. But my question is with the time that we have been married, and time she began to get abnormal PAPS is it possible she had HPV prior to us getting married. Just want to know if its possible. Because i know i havent been with anyone else since we been married and she says she hasnt either. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt if it is possible that it can take that long to show.

She could have definitely gotten HPV from before you were married and there is really no way to tell who she caught it from. I wouldn't think she was cheating just because of abnormal paps because the virus can be in your system for years before it starts to act up.

Yes there is little known as to why HPV can become dormant then flare up in some people and not in others. This can happen at any time frame. I have seen info where it was a much at 20 years or more. Immune system issues and stress can be factors.
