Married - No more intimacy?

My wife was diagnosed with HPV just a week or two after we started dating about 2 1/2 years ago.  We got married 6 months ago, and two months into our marriage, the doctor let her know that she had dysplasia.  We want to have kids sooner than later, so the gameplan is to use condoms for two years so the HPV will clear.  My wife has also decided we should avoid oral sex for 2 years as well, just to be on the safe side.

Are all of these prevention techniques necessary or 100%?  Does HPV clear in 2 years of monogamous sex?  I'm wondering how well a condom actually protects - a condom doesn't create a barrier between the genitals during sex (i.e. some parts still touch).

I want us to be healthy and clear of HPV, so losing the intimacy of condom-less sex and oral sex for the first two years of marriage is ok, but I want to make sure we're not being overly cautious.

I think it depends on where your wife's break outs are as to if a condom will protect you or not. HPV never clears. I have had it for 14 years... didn't know it because it was on my lower back and 3 doctors said it was shingles. Every time I'd get really stressed about something, I'd have another break out. I finally got a correct diagnosis a few weeks ago and got put on Valtrex, and haven't had a breakout since then. I take it every day.

I know this sounds disappointing but one thing I can say that is good.... I got married 4 years ago, and we were careful about exposing my husband to my break outs because he has never had chicken pox.... which is the same virus that causes shingles. We've never used condoms, and he never caught my herpes. So, as I said earlier... where are her break outs located? That will tell you if a condom will protect you.

Good luck, and hang in there.
