I have been diagnosed with HPV and feel devastated and with a ton of questions.

Today I went to the doctor and he told me I have HPV, I was so stunned that I didn't ask any questions at the moment so I'm doing it here. I would really appreciate serious answers, I really don't know what to do.

Is it curable?
Can I ever have sex again? (I'm starting to date someone I really like, now I feel i can't never be with someone again.)
If I have kids, will they be born with HPV?
How is it transmitted? Apart from intercourse, is there a way my family or any other person can get infected?
Should I end with my own life?

Answers appreciated.

You can fight off hpv.  Take vitamins to boost your immune system including vitamin D, L-lysine, B complex. I doubled up on these. I'm over 40 and was diagnosed two years ago but now the hpv is gone!

See above link for the "facts" per the CDC.

No, do not kill yourself. 8 out of 10 sexually adults have HPV.  It is transmitted via oral sex, genital sex, deep kissing, rubbing of genitals with someone else, etc. Most people have multiple strains. Yes, you can have sex again. It is up to you whether to disclose or not. Women can get procedures done to make them non-infectious for some period of time. Men can only get diagnosed via a visual inspection of a genital wart or via a biopsy of a genital wart. It is the common cold of STDs and impossible not to get it or to spread it. Condoms provide 50% protection but they are still a good idea to use especially during recovery.

Spreading it to family members without sex is impossible. Although the virus can remain on things like towels or toilet seats or cigarettes or straws, you have better odds of winning the lottery than spreading it without sex. To spread it requires oral sex or genital sex. Half of the people who have it do not know they have it. Men are usually the carriers but women can also be carriers. People can clear the virus (it become dormant and you aren't infectious) but no one knows for how long. Approx 90% of the infected clear it and are never infectious again. The virus remains in your body forever is very small amounts.

If you still feel depressed over this, please see a therapist or talk to a counselor. Your sex life is not over. Since so many have it (although many do not know it), finding someone who doesn't have it is nearly impossible. All you have to do (post-recovery of warts) is to show your next partner that CDC site and let them know that if they have had 4 or more partners in their entire life, they have it too. If any future partner insists that they don't have it after sleeping with more than 4 partners, then they are in denial of reality. Stay away from the irrational people who think they have not been exposed to it.
