SalicylicAcid40% for genital warts, read on blog that it shouldn't be used on them?

Hello,
I have two small genital warts -  one on the perineum and one just on the tip of the vagina. I visited a doctor and she gave me a medicines called Keratolytic Ointment (Kelytic 40%) which is composed of Salicylic acid BP 40% w/w. But  I read in a health blog that salicylic acid should not be used on genital warts. My doctor prescribed it and I am using it twice a day. Is this medicine okay to use? If yes, How long will it take for the warts to go away? And how many doses should I use?

Please help. I am very worried.

Based on the above, you should not be using that. It is meant for plantar warts. Genital warts eventually go away for most people in a few months but the virus remains in your body forever. They can return even if you never have sex again but the odds are very low.
