Use of topical anesthetic prior to podophyllin (Genital Warts)

Hi
My first post here.
Male 26yrs old.
I have been diagnosed with genital warts and doctor gave me podophyllin 25% and I have to use it myself. I have not started the treatment yet.

in order to reduce the discomfort:
1. Can I A) use a topical anesthetic B)Wash it after a while and C)Apply podophyllin
If it's OK,

2. Which type of anesthetic should I use? Lidocaine, benzocaine, ... ?

3. Which form, gel, cream, ... ?

4. How long should I wait before washing the anesthetic?
