Wart on Lip or Something Else?

Hi,  On Sun night I noticed a small, smooth raised growth on the portion of my inside lip line at the very center of my upper lip.  It has a slight whiter colour but could be just the skin effect.  It is painless but I can feel it with my tongue.  Over the weekend I did notice my left eye felt sore, like a pinkeye infection.  This doesn't have the red rim of a herpes sore nor does it seem to be filled with fluid.  Does this sound like an HPV wart?  If so my concern is that I read HPV warts in the mouth are indicative of HIV infection.  I am booked into a sex health clinic tomorrow for an std screen so I guess I'll find out more tomorrow but does anyone have an idea of what this might be?

It turned out to be a fibroepithelial polyp.  This is a hard fibrous growth that occurs primarily due to toxic and/or irritation of the oral mucosa in the mouth.  It was important to get it biopsied because it turned out to have atypical cell growth i.e. precancer.  Looking back, I believe I contracted it from toothpicks.

This thread should illustrate that just because you get an unusual growth of some kind, don't jump to the assumption that you have an STD.  There are lots of other things that can happen to a human body.

Need an opinion here.  So far I've been to the STD doctor who said it didn't look like a wart, then I've been to my GP who said it's a 'polypoid mucosal lesion' (which is generic for I don't know what it is) and has referred me to an oral surgeon to get it cut out (I can't wait).  I tried tying a string around it 2 nights ago which seemed to irritate it.  It has gotten bigger since then.  I would describe this as a smooth, flesh colored 'skin tag' like growth.   The surface has a whitish look because of the thicker skin but it is essentially flesh.  I don't see a rough warty surface with growths at all, pretty smooth.  I can roll it around with my tonge and bite down on the part that sticks up and can feel where it is attached to my lip.  Does this sound like an HPV wart.  I have scoured the internet and the closes I've come in pictures is a fibroma.  It is an unusual growth.   Any ideas or opinions, I'm going crazy.

I followed up with an STD clinic.  The doctor examined it closely, said it looks like some kind of cyst and definitely doesn't look like its STD related.  She said a wart would have a rough top surface and would be larger.  She could have burned if off with liquid N but decided not to as she didn't know what it was.  I think it might be a mucocele.  Anyway it is going down and is almost gone today.  Whew.

You probably do not have a wart there, and if you do it is likely not indicative of HIV infection. I was diagnosed with "flat warts" on my lips that are so small they are only visible to me because I know they're there. I also have some bumps in my mouth and on my genital area which have not yet been confirmed as HPV, but I have several doc appts booked to determine what it is. FYI I was also worried about HIV because of all the info on the internet. I had a full STD screening, and everything was negative (including the HIV and pap test). Best best is to visit a dermatologist to determine what the bump is and the best method of treatment.
