My partner has genetal warts.

He has only ever shown symptoms in his anal area.  I do know that it's generally spread through direct skin to skin contact, but can he give it to me if he performed oral?

There are people in the world who are asymptomatic meaning they have genital warts but show no symptoms and still transmit the virus. Not all people will develop symptoms. But if you do have it, and you develop symptoms they will show up in a few months. They could show up in a few weeks or a few years but both of those options are unlikely.

I know that 90 percent of people clear of the virus in up to 2 years, and they do not experience symptoms again, or transmit the virus. If your healthy your chances of clearing the virus if you have it are pretty good. You just need to lower your stress levels.

Just to add - genital warts are more likely to be transmitted through unprotected penetrative sex, and more likely if there are present symptoms at the time. You can get the virus when there are no symptoms, but this is unlikely.

By the way, judging from your exposure - you do not have to worry. Only worry when you see a wart. And even at that, don't worry to much because it's not as bad as it feels at first

HPV is not usually transmitted through fluid

Your chances of getting it that way are practically zero, i wouldn't worry

One more question I forgot to ask.  What about if he touched his genitals then touched mines?  Can it be contracted that way?

I have read somewhere that says they don't know if having no symptoms means you are less likely to pass it on or not. Someone said you are just as likely.

Sorry if I'm asking the same question, but I'm just trying to understand thing's more.  The whole idea of not knowing whether I have it sucks.  So what your saying is IF I have it I WILL develop symptoms, and typically those symptoms show up within a few months; and that the chances of showing symptoms either early or a few years from now are RARE?

Also I'd like to hear what you know of genital warts clearing from the system completely, either to never be able to transmit or show symptoms?  I consider myself pretty healthy and I've never had any complications with my immune system.  I eat fairly healthy.

The chances of passing it on through oral is slim anyway. Especially if you've got no visible warts there, the chance of transmision is close to zero.

By the way if you still have anal warts and aren't clear there, then you wont be clear in the other area. You'll only be clear once there have been no warts in any area of the genitals for 6-24 months.

This sounds similar to my case. I only have them in the anal area but my doctor said that I could still have them in the genital area and just not be able to see them. Can I presume that, unless I start developing warts in the genital area, I am clean there and the chances of passing it on through oral are slim?

Theres no percentage I can give you, all I can say is close to zero

and some people get symptoms a few weeks after exposure, some a few years. However this is relatively rare and most experience symptoms a few months after exposure.

Oh and how long does it take before you would typically show symptoms?

What's the percentage do you know of the possibility of showing symptoms of genital warts?

That's a very very low exposure, so I'd say do not worry about it, very unlikely you got the virus from him like that. Just in future when you begin to fool around, put on a condom before your clothes even come off, just to save the worry

How much of a possibility do you think I have if our penis BRIEFLY touched?  I mean is that all it takes?  We have never had anal sex and considering he has only ever shown symptoms in the anal area.

No, unless he has it in his mouth. It is rare to get it orally and you'd obviously only have it there if you gave oral sex to someone who had the virus in there genitals
