Ex-Girlfriend had pre-Cervical Cancer: What does this mean for me?

Hello.

Approximately 4 years before my ex-girlfriend and I began dating, she contracted HPV from a boyfriend and following a pap smear was told that she would need cryosurgery on her cervix.  Since then she has, thankfully, had to take no action.

How does this affect me, and how would it affect potential partners of mine?  Are they at high risk of developing cervical cancer as well?  Thanks.

High risk HPV RARELY has ANY medical effects on men..so relax..as for you having HPV you'll never know( men show no symptoms so you def could have had it BEFORE you met her..80% of sexually active pple have it)..since you said that she had an issue 4 yrs before you and no other medical issues you're more than likely ok since it would seem that her body surpressed the virus before she met you..as for your future partners I wouldn't be worried..having HPV doesn't mean that a women will get cancer (it's a slow percentage of women that do)..i posted some info on HPV by a doc under the discussion under "do i still have it"

I am in a similar situation. Although I never had genital to genital sex with my ex. Doctors suggest it is possible to get HPV if you have done genital to genital and is rare through kissing and oral but possible. So I am going to get myself tested.
