Eleven years ago I had mild dysplasia (abnormal pap). I was diagnosed with HPV 6 and HPV 11. I had one episode of genital warts. The warts were treated. I haven't had them since. Also, I have not had an abnormal pap since. All of my pap smears have been perfectly fine since then and no sign of warts. I've been tested and scraped every 6 months for the past 11 years and I have not had any signs or symptoms of HPV. Also, I took the HPV test 2 years ago and it came back negative. Also, I was in a 2 year relationship and a 4 year relationship, and neither person I was involved with contracted HPV or genital warts. They have since moved on, and their new partners have NOT contracted the virus either. Is it safe to say that I have cleared the virus and am no longer contagious? Many reputable websites say that the virus is eradicated or cleared after 6 months to 2 years. Does that mean it is no longer contagious? What does "cleared" mean exactly?
Thank you!
