hpv mouth transmission?

I've read a lot on this but am still unsure whether you can transfer high-risk HPV by kissing or by sharing drinking cups.

I had a scare today when my daughter, who had just lost a tooth and thus had an open wound in her mouth, drank from a cup I had just drunk from. I don't know that I have hpv in the mouth but I have long feared that it could have been transferred to my mouth from my fingers, where I do have it. I know it sounds crazy but I quickly got her to clean her teeth and use a medical mouthwash.

I assume my reaction was excessive because HPV usually needs skin-to-skin contact and I assume that even if I had left any HPV on the glass it would not have been enough to infect her. If that were enough, then wouldn't everyone have it through kissing? In which case it would be as common among virgins as non-virgins, which it clearly isn't.

On the other hand I have come across studies from poorer countries where they found many children had HPV in the mouth, without much explanation how it got there. And the fact that my daughter had an open wound inside her mouth made me wonder whether there was a risk, after all, hence my panic reaction.

Was there a real risk, or am I just being paranoid?

Sorry i  misunderstood your question till i read it over again.. Im pretty sure you can NOT pass warts from your hand to genital area. I thought you meant genital - hand - oral.. like forgetting to wash your hands.. etc. sorry.. i see the doctor has answered your questions:) take care

Maybe this was a silly question, but I'm sire others get stressed about this kind of thing, so could someone please answer it or comment?

I'm also stressed about an occasion when my young daughter used my bath towel by mistake after swimming, a few hours after I had dried myself with it (I have an asymptomatic low-risk HPV infection down below). I assume the risk was minimal but I keep seeing contradictory views on this - some say HPV from towels are an urban myth, others say it is unlikely but still a real risk. What do others think?
