Warts or Molluscum or skin growths?

Hi,

I am a 21 year old gay man (I am the receiving partner/bottom). I received a Brazilian Wax (it included the pubic hair, scrotum hair, and anus/perineum hair), and 6 days later I noticed a small cluster of bumps on my scrotum.  I had not noticed the bumps after the wax, in fact I caressed my scrotum because it was really smooth. So 6 days later, I was washing my scrotum in the shower and I felt the bumps. They felt odd. I immediately examined the area saw the bumps.

I immediately got out of the shower and went to the store and bought vinegar (the 5% acidity). The bumps turned white. I was disheartened and disappointed in myself to have contracted HPV. So I performed hours worth of internet research, and, 5 days later, I went to an STD clinic here in town. I explained my situation to the nurse who saw me, and I was upfront about the number of sexual partners I have had. The number is 21.

She examined me and told me that she wasn't, and I quote, "... not too convinced those are warts." She went on to say they didn't appear "cauliflower like." I found that last statement to be a bit misleading because not all genital warts have to have the cauliflower look (according to the hours worth of research I've done).

I asked the nurse what she thought they were and she said, "growths." She told me that if they grow in size or start to become painful to make another visit.

A week has went by since I've seen the nurse and the bumps are still there. Initially, I didn't count how many there were but it seems that more have appeared. I scheduled another appointment but I want to get an "e-opinion".

I have attached pictures (I do apologize for the quality) of the "bumps" and I was wondering if I could get a second opinion.

Thank you so much for your time! I am looking forward to hearing/seeing a reply!

Best regards,

Hi there,

Most of us don't look at pictures. I don't know about official policy, but it seems as though medhelp discourages posting pictures in the STD and STD related community. None of us are doctors, anyway.

It would be frustrating to get a diagnosis of probably not warts, but something else. I hope that your second opinion will be more conclusive. Consider seeing a dermatologist or visitng another clinic.

A comments on your post....

The vinegar test isn't really much of a test. Too often skin that is not infected will turn white, while warts will not. Some doctors may use vinegar to help enhance visability, but it shouldn't be used as a diagnostic tool.

Best of luck with your second apointment. If the doctor does not think you have warts, I would accept the diagnosis.
