Is it possible to have a pimple on the glans?

Over the last couple weeks I've noticed what appears to be a pimple on the glans of the penis.  It's basically a bump with a small white centre (hence, why I'm wondering if it's a pimple or not).

I've been tested for herpes, chlamydia, syphilis, hepatitis, and a number of other STD's through blood testing.  I routinely go in to get tested every six months, or before I engage in sexual activity with a new partner.

I have been sexually active with the same partner for about 7 months now.  I'm just wondering if this is a sign of HPV (warts), or if this is just a pimple.

I've looked up pictures of warts just to be sure, and it doesn't really look like warts... although I've read sites that have said that warts greatly vary in appearance.  Either way I will get it checked out by a health care professional in the near future.  I've also told my partner so she knows.

She has had an HPV scare in the past, and her pap smear tests have come out negative consistently....

So I'm wondering what is going on.

Hpv can lay dormant. There is a lot of controversy as to whether the virus ever leaves the body at all after it is "cleared" by the immune system. Personally, I think the individual has the strain for their lifetime.

However, from everything that I have read, high risk strains do not cause warts and low risk strains do not cause cancer. So there should be no reason you would get genital warts from your gf's having a high risk strain of hpv.

When are you going to see a doctor? Keep us posted here :)

My guess is a pimple caused by an ingrown hair.

Good stuff.  I actually applied vinegar to the bump and examined whether or not it would change colour, as I am aware that warts have a tendency to turn white if vinegar is applied.  Slight sigh of relief... it kept the same colour (which is more red than flesh coloured).

My girlfriend had a high risk HPV scare, with cancer potential strain.  So somehow I'm doubting it was warts.... I mean unless it has simply layed dormant for over a year, which I suppose is possible, but I hear that is rare.

First of all, I have to say the responsibility you take for your sexual health and your consideration for your partner before entering into a sexual relationship are highly commendable! :)

Secondly, it does not sound like genital warts. You're right, they do vary. They can be raised or flat, small or large, in clusters or alone. There are a few things, however, that are consistent with genital warts. They are flesh colored. They do not have a white center. They do not have anything inside of them and can not be popped.

Be aware that any pictures of std manifestations you find on the internet are not practical when attempting to use for self-diagnosis. This is because the pictures on the internet are graphic. It's difficult to find pictures of any mild infection online. These pictures are of worse case scenarios and the person in the picture is likely living with other conditions which are likely to worsen such things as genital warts.

As for herpes, does it itch? Did you perhaps feel a tingling sensation before the bump appeared? I suspect not because my guess is that you do in fact have just a pimple:) But to be sure, do know though that hsv testing isn't accurate for 4 months. If you're still concerned about the possibility of herpes, have a culture done of the fluid inside of the bump. Unlike blood testing, culture tests are accurate at the time they are performed.

Did your gf have a scare with a high risk (potentially cancer causing) strain of hpv or a low risk (potentially wart causing) strain of hpv?
