I second the consistent use of condoms (although I've never personally found them awful?). Keep in mind with any sexual practice though, condoms may not fully protect against HPV, as they do not cover all the areas of the body which may be affected by HPV. I used condoms with all of my partners and was incredibly cautious. Despite this, I caught HPV using a condom with an asymptomatic partner. I'm not saying it never happens, but complications caused by oral, sexually transmitted HPV are rare. But it is of course, possible. Sorry to hear of your mouth warts DSP1960. Flagirl, I would further discuss your concerns with your doctor, as previouslly advised here.
You really should think about wearing a condom (I know it is awful) to protect your loved one during oral sex if you have HPV.
Yes, you can tyansmit high rish strains to the mouth. and there are increasing cases of oral cancer but I do not know how to tgest for a certain strain. Ask your Dermatologist for that answer.
Usually it does not hit the throast befoere the mouth shows symptoms.
Can you transmit high risk hpv strains to the mouth? I hear that there are increasing cases of oral cancer due to hpv ....but how do you know if u have that strain? and what are the signs or symptoms of having some type of throat cancer
Yes, you definitely CAN give HPV to someone's mouth. The mouth tissue is the same mucosal membrane tissue as the Vagina or anus.
How do I know? Had them on the roof of my mouth and one fast growing wart on my lip. YUCK! Had to be burned off
Although a lot of HPV is transmitted orally, rarely does it ever cause any symptoms or problems. Usually only those with severely compromised immune systems (due to AIDS/Cancer, other severe illness) will develop warts in the mouth. It is very rare.
